God’s timing and ways never cease to amaze me.  However, they do often make me wonder, “Are you sure, Lord? Me?”  Last summer I was able to get a glimpse into Dorroh Lake, a local camp ministry.  I hear consistently of the impact this particular camp has in the lives of many people.  Our church supports this ministry through regular giving as well as sending and supporting campers. Children from our church attend and talk about how much they love the four day camp year after year. My oldest son attends their guys camp, where last summer my husband helped in leading a small group.  This will be the first summer all of our boys will be able to attend.

With various activities, including swimming and canoeing, this outdoorsy camp focuses on growing Christ-following leaders.  A beautiful, precious woman has overseen the girls camp ministry for years.  However, God has seen fit to expand her ministry at home. She and her husband have two darling children.  With her responsibilities at home, I was approached about the possibility of leading the girls (teen and young girls) camps this summer. After much prayer and numerous conversations with my husband, we were in agreement this is from the Lord.

Spending much time over the last three months pouring into the preparations, curriculum, and prayer going into camp, I am excited because Teen Girls Camp will kick off on Monday!  As a parent myself, I feel that it is important to keep parents informed of what we will be discussing. In order to do so, the devotions and small group curriculum will be posted here, on my blog, daily.  The nature of Teen Camp may bring about some sensitive topics.  When these topics arise, they will be answered Biblically with the why behind the what.  Our goal is to instill the Truth of Christ into the lives of each girl that enters the campus.  Addressing sensitive issues is not something from which we can shy away.  I want each and every girl to feel comfortable asking difficult questions without fear of judgment or of isolation.

Due to issues of liability, traffic on and off campus will be limited to those working on the camp grounds and the camp managers. We are asking that no outside visitors just show up.  This is in the interest of safety for all who are present. However, your support through prayer and financial contributions are greatly appreciated.  Feel free to contact me for more information regarding Dorroh Lake camps.
